If man is causing global warming, then man can cure it.

There is only one viable option -

Atomic Power!

And then what happens when we tun out of uranium, and all the other
elemental radioactive materials?

Not going to happen anytime soon. The main point of nuclear energy is
that you get a *lot* of energy from a small amount of fuel.

We just start splitting hydrogen atoms for fun and profit?

Probably not, since you can't split an atom with only one proton.
Hopefully, we'll be *fusing* hydrogen atoms sometime in my lifetime, but
unfortutately the fusion horizon hasn't gotten any closer.

And what about all the spent waste?

That is a problem. Not an insurmountable one, but it's a serious one.

Isn't one of the only things they've found that cleanses nuclear waste
after a long ling time swamp environments?

You don't "cleanse" radioactive atoms, you patiently wait for them to
decay on their own. Some of them take a really long time. Never heard
anything about a swamp, but it won't help.

And doens't China and Russia have some of the largest reserves of unmined
eadioactive elements?

Maybe. Not sure what that has to do with the price of eggs.

Glen is right that nuclear energy *can* be done safely and economically -
France has shown it to be the case.

The question we US citizens face is whether the American system can run
nuclear plants safely and efficiently. If Consumers Energy (Ohio) is any
guide, the answer is no. When you have managers constantly cutting costs
to bolster the bottom line, anti-regulatory zealots eliminating required
safety proceedures, and a political spoils system that rewards the
freest-spending lobbyist it becomes dubious proposition.
