Don,
Because the plugs may be fouled, I remove them, give them a little
cleaning and start the engine (with the water earmuff on). This way, the
residue from the fogging oil gunks up the old plugs not the brand new ones
that I put in next.

Another method of "Fogging" an engine is to start the engine using
"earmuffs" and garden hose to protect the water pump and to keep the
engine
cool. When the engine has warmed up, idle the engine, remove the flame
arrestor and spray the fogging oil in the carb as fast as the can will put
out the solution. If all goes well there will be so much oil in the
cylinders that the engine will die. Turn off the ignition and call it
another job well done!

It may be a bit difficult to start the engine in the spring because the
spark plugs will be fowled. That is a good time to put in new ones for
the
season!
