I'm curious, since you obviously spent a lot
of money on your cameras and glass, why you
chose the 50/1.4 instead of the 50/1.2?
I'm guessing you're refering to the Noct-Nikkor 1,2. I've actually used
one on an F2 before I made the switch to digital.
1) It's a manual lens and I generally work AF, unless I'm shooting
macro.
2) The 1.4 is sharper, but on cropping sensors I suspect the 1.2 is
pretty sharp.
3) It's too expensive for a lens I'll not use much. In fact the Sigma
30mm 1.4 is a better pick.
4) In fact, the inexpensive 50mm 1.8 offers pro quality fast glass for
about 100 bucks. The 1.4 has shallow DOF and the 1.2 is really a
specialty lens. I've seen some at star parties on RFTs.
