What Joe isn't mentioning is that the severed heads of Buddha, Jesus,
and Mohammad did not appear in the original opera, they were a special
feature in a recent staging. I can see that some might consider it just
a bit provocative in today's climate.

Four canceled performances of a Mozart opera clearly shows terror

The finest Oprea House in Berlin is **** canning its production of
"Idomeneo," seems they are ****ing their pants and terrorfied because
of a scene that might offend Muslims, Berlin's Deutsche has given in to

the terrorist. Whats next goose stepping to the Allyatola?

The problem for you non-opry fans is King Idomeneo is shown on stage
with the severed heads of Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad and the sea god
Poseidon.

If the show goes on, then many must die according to the radical
islamist.
Wonder when they will start burning the books again.

If Mozart or his librettist didn't put it in there, then it shouldn't
be there...some of the recent stagings of operas are
appalling...supposed to be set to attract a modern audience...I have
seen some of Joseph Papp's productions and they were ok, but lose some
of the flavor...it's like when they perform Shakespeare in modern day
times...it just loses something along the way...and personally, I find
it offensive that anyone's representation of their God or Prophet's head
is held up...I suppose they used them all for rqual rights...
