How do you roll tack a beach catamaran?
They do something that they call a "roll tack" but it really isn't. The
basic idea is to shift weight far aft as you get into the eye of the wind,
this does two things... as you move aft, it shoves the boat forward and
gives just a little more forward impetus and thus helps the rudder keep
it's bite; it also lifts the bow to help the boat turn easier (minimize
trying to shove two long narrow bows sideways thru the water).
Maybe they call it a "roll tack" because the crew will sometimes roll
across the tramp to get to the other side under the boom. The boat sure
doesn't roll during the tack.
