Default SFBay to Puget Sound, what's the best time of year?

I'm going to sail a 60 year old, 48' (LOA) ketch from SFO to Seattle.
I was wondering what the best time of year would be for a trip of this
nature.
One fellow told me that now (Sept.) would be a pretty good time but
Life is going to keep me hear untill Nov. at the least.
I've been trying to search for prevailing wind patterns on the pacific
coast but there doesn't seem to be much info out there (or perhaps
google is just not what I thought it ws).

You might want to check the Weather Fax at:
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/nepacificbrief.shtml.

Anyone made this passage before?

I have not made this passage, nor do I intent to, unless there was a
great incentive.. I know three who trucked their boat from SF to
Seattle after having made the attempt. One friend did it and would
not do it again.

Any suggestions?

I just checked the fax. The 48 hour forecast shows gale force winds
off the California coast.

You might monitor it for a while to get an impression of what you
might face.

The "safe" route from Mexico is via Honolulu, and then north almost to
the Aleutians before turning for the Pacific NorthWest.
