Yeah - but it's in France!!

Who the hell would want to go to France?

You've never seen the Seine?

Nope.

Trust me it's worth a trip. You don't even have to stay overnight -
day trip from London on the high speed Chunnel train, *that's* a trip.

That would require me to go to London and I'm not going to do that
either.

Them people talk funny.

"As a young man goes to Paris,

as every young man should"

-- Kingston Trio: Raspberries, Strawberries, 1958

There is nothing in Paris that I have the slightest interest in
viewing.

Just when I think you can't possibly get any more narrow minded, this
gem comes along.

Ok bassy - you obviously want your rhetorical ass kicked again.

Just how does the statement that I have no interest in anything in
Paris, France make me narrow minded?

You have to look further. Anytime anyone here mentions anything about
any country other than the U.S. you instantly and always say negative
and rude comments about that country. That IS narrow minded.

So? How is that narrow minded?

And for the record, it's only been about France.

Oh, no! You, in the past have said ****ty things to Don about Canada,
and just above, you've done the same with Great Britain.

Everybody makes fun of France.

You say there is nothing in Paris that you would have the slightest interest in
seeing? How do you KNOW that, if you've never been there, and will
never go because you BECAUSE you narrow mindedly think there is nothing
there for you?

Because I have no interest in anything there. That's not narrow
minded - that's just the way it is.

I don't care. I don't care about art, I don't care about culture, I
don't drink wine and I'm sure as hell not interested in "the romance
of Paris".

I'm interested in my family and their welfare, space exploration,
astronomy, research in quantum mechanics, fish biology/physiology,
medicine as it relates to my particular problems, Native American
culture and society, my own family history, paleontology, geology, new
and interesting machine tool technology, architecture, antique
cars/tractors/trucks, small boats, techno/industrial/electronic music,
etc.

Architecture? Below, you call the grand cathedrals of France just
"stone buildings!!!!
Geology? Europes geology is unique and diverse.
Paleontology? France and the surrounding area is THE place to go, right
after the African continent.
Your family history? Did 100% of your family tree originate in the
U.S.?
Antiques?? France and Europe in general, again, is THE place to be!

That's not narrow minded - that's just me.

Broaden your horizons! The Louvre,

Moldy old paintings - no thanks. Modern art - no thanks.

Now THAT is narrow minded!!!!

Moulin Rouge,

If I want to see a Vegas review, I'll go to Vegas.

dinner cruises on the Seine, Orsay,

And why would I want to risk my life doing that? I can have dinner on
my own boat - on an ocean. If I want a dinner cruise on a river, I'll
go on a trip up the Mississippi - right here in the US.

I rest my case! The Mississippi isn't the Seine, neither is your coast.

grand cathedrals,

One stone building is like every other stone building.

I rest my case!

and this list goes on and on.

I'm sure it does - I'm just not interested.

Again, thanks for making my point!

That does not make me narrow minded.

Oh, indeed it does! You are negating things you have never done. You
don't want to broaden your horizons, you don't want to even try
anything slightly different than what you do every single day. That IS
being narrow minded whether you like the term or not!
