Your husband should've been ringing the bell with the signal for being aground.
Maybe they would've stayed further away if they knew it was shallow there.

They knew it was shallow there...they draft very little....
and he did blast away on the horn...they would never have heard the bell
and most of them would have thought it was the Episcopalian church's
carollon playing the hour...it was very evident what was going on...they
just didn't care....
