and installed a whole new keel.
Maybe the deal falling through was your lucky break
after all!
Good luck with the boat in Florida.

I realize that "Charlie" thinks of himself as a detective
( well he is a dick) , the guy broke the keel guides
while
putting the boat on the trailer. he was too far in the
water.
Scotty
They had to truck the boat to Florida so the factory could
repair the damage and
replace the entire keel. Smart money says he hit something
solid at over 5
knots. Scotty has the "dumb" money covered.
Maybe you're remembering someone else. The NY guy wrote;
''Second, when retrieving the boat, it wasn't centered
properly and the keel ended up on top of the port keel
guide, which broke. The trailer was too far down the ramp so
the boat was above the keel guides. I am still thinking
about how to avoid this situation in the future''
and then;
''My brother and I were able to assess the damage done to
the keel guides. They both are broken but, since all they do
is "guide", they will not need to be replaced. We were much
more careful retrieving the boat and it is perfectly
centered. I did not back the trailer too deep this time -
the front roller is about 5 inches above the water. Of
course, a different ramp would require a different level, so
I plan to install trailer guides. I found quite a few on the
web - can anyone recommend one brand over the other?
