I recently tried to register an older trailer in Massachusetts with only a
bill of sale. No VIN or previous title. Went to the RMV and was told no way
on the home built route, no way without the previous title.

I came home and handed the paperwork to my 19 year old daughter. She was
back with the plate in less than an hour.

Just a guess, but I'm going to suppose that your 19-year old daughter
is probably a lot better looking than you are? Amazing what a giggle, a
wiggle, a wink and smile might accomplish if there's a young male title
clerk on duty. :-)
