Sea Ray Water leak
The drive has to come off the bell housing to get the engine out
because the drive input shaft ges into the coupler on the back of the
engine. The rest of the drive stuff stays on the transom. The Y pipe
just bolts directly on. It's easy to remove when the engine is out.

There is a gasket on the end of the Y pipe that you can check as well.
If it's a trailer boat and doesn't have a history of sitting in the
water then the Y pipe is usually ok. They mostly rot out when sitting
in a slip. The big hassle is that the engine has to come out to get
the Y pipe out.
I was afraid if that. Do you know off hand if the drive has to come
off too? I guess I'll start pulling the engine and see what I can
find. That just kills me because the darn thing is new and I could
have looked at this before it went in. Thanks again.
