Funny thing is that speed is of no advantage for a "Poker Run." The last
boat to arrive can still win the pot...there's no need for a turbine
powered
boat running at 100mph.
I'm no expert on poker runs but I've heard that the *real* event is
all about finishing first in a thinly disguised race, and that winning
the "pot" is a public relations after thought.
Well ****, why tolerate a " thinly disguised race" ??
Why not just *HAVE* a race, a real race, with
official safety stuff, and lanes, and all the fixings ?
This is sad story. Insurance companies and lawers
are gonna have a hay-day with this one I'll bet.
Something tells be these were $20K boats either.
Interesting to note that most of the folks were up
there in age - over 50 etc. (not that there's any
thing wrong with this, but just noteworthy) Sad.
