Default Too many people acting like your typical, mindless liberal

Would the likes of a Barry Goldwater whine and complain or would he lead
by example
with realistic plans and an inspiring message? Why don't more
conservatives or libertarians
like Crantz, Gilligan and Joe speak up against the nattering nabobs of
negatism. Why
do we tolerate hatemongering in this very group.

At one time a very bright torch of conservatism burned from the highest of
places and shined upon every space of this newsgroup. To many that torch
not only illuminated the path but it burned so brightly that the tenets of
true and proper conservatism (hence sailing) were etched into the retina
(and minds) for an extended time. To others that bright beacon of truth
merely blinded them and caused them to fonder upon the shoals of modern
liberalism for the bile of self hatred ran in their veins. Sadly, that
bright beacon - brighter than 100 suns, which shone upon all things went
dark. The remaining conservatives could only rely upon their own torches, of
much limited candlepower to guide them. No single torch has the power to
illuminate as the greatest torch once did. Now there are hundreds of single
points of light rather than the great beacon to illuminate and guide all.
Some remain here with the hope that that great torch bearer will return with
the stature and brilliance to shine upon all and once again expose truth,
justice and the American way.

"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more
efficient, for I mean to reduce its size.

I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom.

My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do
violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that
impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden.

I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have
first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible.

And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents
'interests,' I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is
liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can."

As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler;
solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness
weakness.
Henry David Thoreau

I did not wish to take a cabin passage, but rather to go before the mast and
on the deck of the world, for there I could best see the moonlight amid the
mountains. I do not wish to go below now.
Henry David Thoreau

Most of the luxuries and many of the so-called comforts of life are not only
not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind.
Henry David Thoreau

Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.
