Default Low Voltage Problem on 350 Mag Mercruiser

The alternator check out at over 14 volts. I also had napa double check it
for me. I replaced the battery to rule that out. As well as the ignition
switch. Voltage did jump back to normal the other day while cruising. But,
dropped below 12 on the dash later on. There must be a loose wire or short
somewhere. I placed a call to my mobile marine mechanic. Time for an
expert....

Test at the alternator output terminal, not the starter solenoid, when
the voltmeter reads low. Report back.

battery 12.43 volts. Shouldn't it be the same as what's coming out of the
alternator? Does anyone have any other suggestions of things to check?
