I participated in our annual Race for the Dawg from Pt. Campbell at the East
end of Racoon Straight to the Marin Yacht Club (first place is one hotdog to
the skipper) fundraising event. We came in 3rd. Which isn't so bad
considering we got to the start 15 minutes late.
However, boat #2, when finally docked, was approached by the local police
boat and cited for not having the proper registration (wrong year and not
registered properly, apparently). We pulled up just as the officer was
finishing the citation and explaining it to them. So, my question is can I
improve my standing in the race? I think they should withdrawn, given that
they weren't legal.
We ended up joking around with the cop, saying he should check out the
winning boat also. I offered him a bribe of one dog to split with his crew,
but he declined. Then, he said, maybe he should check all the boats. We left
quietly. :-)
What do you think? Should #2 withdraw?
