How did ou get wind of that?

Got any pictures?

Nah, there are afew in the papers this morning, but I have none.
Not much to see, just a bunch of hulls burned to the waterline

That sucks. Difficult to even tell which one it was, much
less salvage anything. The bad thing about a marina fire is
that it spreads quickly and is very destructive, a
neighbor's carelessness (or bad luck) can destroy your boat.
My sympathy to your friend.

The good thing is that it's better than a fire at sea.

What caused the fire?

Appears that it was first noticed in one of the big cruisers.
Speculation is an electrical fault, battery charger or battery.
Don't think they'll ever find out..it's a mess.

Maybe... those insurance surveyors are pretty clever and
thorough... since a really big claim is involved, they will
expend quite and effort to find out (at least, they would here).

When I spoke to him this morning, he was pulling out the order forms
and getting ready to send a fax off the France tomorrow to order
another.....

Guy can't take a hint huh?...

Those new Farr Beneteaus are pretty nice... by the time you
get up to 65' it's semi custom at least and done pretty nicely.

She was a beautiful yacht...I can well understand why he'd want
another.

Now will come the task of hunting for a short term replacement.

Plenty of options there... maybe you can let him borror the
cat... change his mind a little...
