dosent really help with the removeal of the impeller, I really no
nothing about engines and the like but are prepared to take anything to
bits (I didnt know what a car was or did a week ago or what points
where LOL), so Im going through a steap learing curve here.
The engine I believe is from the early 70s.

I could tell you how to access the water pump impeller but I don't believe
that is the reason it runs for 30" and then stops. Sounds like a fuel
problem. I just had the same problem with a '76 15 hp and discovered that
the fuel pickup tube in the tank had fallen off. Priming the fuel line bulb
would apparrently suck up enough fumes to start engine but it would
immediately quit. Also, check to be sure you have the vent screw on the
tank open...that will cause the engine to starve for gas. Another
thing...we just restored my pontoon boat with 70hp Evinrude...had a similar
problem starting the engine and discovered we had put the gas line back on
backwards so when squeezing the priming bulb we were pushing the gas toward
the tank instead of the engine. If the impeller is shot, it would start and
run fine for more than 30", probably a few minutes, before the engine seized
up. And then you wouldn't be able to pull the engine over until it had
cooled back down.
