I once ran into an interesting situation with a rowing shell in
Nantucket Harbor. Seeing the shell ahead, I cut back to "no wake"
speed, somewhere around 5 1/2 kts. At that speed the shell was able
to keep ahead and showed no sign of slowing down to let us by. Not
wanting to follow for 30 minutes we eventually gave a couple of toots
and eased by at "minimum wake" speed.
