What do you think of the little Fuji A500. The A600 doesn't
have a viewfinder and I'd prefer one.

The W5 and W7 are two of the Sony units I know have poor
focusing when
the light is not bright. If you only intend on using them
outdoors,
then they would be fine. I also take issue with Sony stuff
at times
because it can break...seems more delicate than some other
brands.
Sounds silly, but you can look up the W5 on Amazon and
read the
customer reviews. Some time ago I remember too many people
agreeing the
focus was a weak point. Some of this is operator error of
course. But I
tried a W5 and got blurry shots as well because it could
not lock focus
indoors very well. The Sony L1 was far better.
Your expectations are what's important here.
