Dave Disneys Cove of Wonder!
Your is a clean, reasonably well-run commercial marina. Luxury it
ain't.
A comercial marina means the facility is owned by management. You
don't seem to realize that the slips have nothing to do with the
service dept. or even the parking lot. The slips are privately owned,
75% by the boaters here. They are Island residents and some get their
mail here. It's just a world higher-end than your place.
Dave, do you mean, by any wild stretch of imagination, that you
actually think a mooring is more luxurious? You have GOT to be kidding.
Sure, I can save by joining a club like yours, but it would just make
use of the boat a drag...and really tough on some family members who'd
have a hard time on a launch. It's just not worth it to save a few
bucks...not that I pay anyway!
Face the basic physics here. The slip is simply nicer. Easier to use
the boat. Easier to care for the boat. Easier to do just about
everything. When we had a big crew last week, we could hang on the boat
while everyone got to us. No meeting points ashore and multiple launch
trips. Short daysails are also far easier. Longer sails are a snap
because we can load the boat in a snap. Most mooring dwellers think a
slip is luxurious. Then when they hear how we are treated to more than
they get at thier clubs.....well, let's just say we have more and more
sailboats each year and we turned some away for next season already.
It's pretty funny that you though our AC had to be stowed!
Also: How do you know it's a well run facility?
