A CLUB with no dining room??? Say, that's no CLUB!!!
Bwahahahhahahahaha!
Hey, BS, you really ought to get out a bit more from your dockside nautical
ghetto. There really are clubs where people actually sail instead of sitting
around talking about it over a beer.
Pet peeve here! I dropped my Yacht Club membership when, upon the
election of a new set of officers, they decided to require that a
certain amount of money must be spent in the bar and dining room each
month or you were assessed a fairly high minimum charge. Surely, I
said, you cannot mean non-resident members who live 300 miles away
such as myself and who pay their annual dues without putting any
pressure on the club facilities and who could not meet the minimum
even if desired to do so? You must see that with my dues you are
getting money for nothing. Oh yes was the reply, you are included in
the minimum. It seems that the club had gotten themselves into
trouble when these same clowns demanded expansion of the food service,
hiring a high priced chef and kitchen manager and couldn't cover.
So I saved myself some money without impacting the amount of sailing
was doing.
Still waiting, BTW, to hear about your "club's" junior sailing program.
This club did have a good Junior sailing program, producing at least
one olympic sailor. My sons all took advantage of it.
