The jack handle is a screw and the tubing and castor wheel (together)
act as a nut. There is a groove and slot type mechanism that keeps the
nut (castoring wheel and assembly) from just spinning around as the
handle is turned.

It sounds like you ran the wheel too far down, the screw no longer is
engaging the nut, and the tubing is no longer seating in the "slot"
mechanism.

Turn the tubing that the castoring wheel is attached to until you feel
it lock (this may require that you ,first, get the screw and nut
re-engaged and lower the tongue of the trailer a tad). The handle may
need a little turning to get things lined up right. Anyway, once the
tubing is oriented correctly, the handle (screw) should re-engage the
tubing/wheel assembly (nut) and everything should be fixed.

Just don't raise it that high next time...

Mine must have come apart too. The wheel will rotate 360. I thought it was
supposed to do that. ???
