doesn't add in the effect of a high voltage panel array and MPPT...

My experience is that you get a maximum of 1/2 of the rated wattage when
charging batteries which are at 12.5V+. When I connect the panels to a dead
load, then I get the rated output. Of course this is at noon in the
Caribbean with perfect conditions.
