health insurance, and you could afford it, then "can afford it" has to

you're fabulously wealthy, or have a terminal disease and figure

Nope. I never carried health insurance until I got married. My
choice. I was not wealthy but I could certainly afford it. When you
are young you are invincible........or so you think so. ;-)
