Need advice on engine coupler
It's all labor costs, the part is a $100 or so. The engine just has to
be lifted enough to get the bellhousing off. So it doesn't really have
to come totally out on the ground but everything has to be disconnected
just as if it was. If there is really a lot of working space you might
get it off by just lifting the engine a little but I really doubt it.
I would suspect the prop hub before the engine coupler. They use the
same coupler on all of them and the 5l is not as powerful as the 5.7.
Alignment issues can cause it though. What makes you think it is the
engine coupler?
If it is make sure it is aligned correctly after put back together.
And have the alignment checked again later.

sorry but the engine has to come out to do this, as well as your wallet

I have a 2002 Stingray 240cs with a 5l Mercruiser and Alpha one
outdrive.
I'm pretty sure the engine coupler is spun. Does the engine have to
come out to replace this? or can I do it in place?
