Default Fast Sail Boats of ASA

That's because they're dumb. Most cruisers I've ever talked
to complain about how often they had to motor (wind too
light, too strong, wrong direction), they need a bigger
fridge, they ran aground too often, had to wait for bridges,
couldn't make it to a good anchorage, batteries not holding
a charge, etc etc etc.

Holy crap!
We have quite a few cruisers and liveaboards here as well as passing
through. Some chose sail and others chose motorsailors. I can easily
see the appeal of the latter. And if my arms or back were badly
compromised I might choose power rather than having nothing at all.
But to be stuck on a boat that can NEVER cruise without the sound of
the motor churning away, spewing filth into the air and water? No
thanks! That's not what it's all about, Doug.
Sorry you need a bigger fridge and have so many bridges to get by. I
guess that rules out a sailboat because you MUST be at the anchorage by
3:00 sharp with fresh batteries. Great woogily boogers!
In any case, this is alt.SAILING.asa and you're a powerboat 100% now.
Others are polite about it, but absolutley no one truly believes the BS
about why you dropped the dream of a cruising sailboat. Ever hear of a
Nauticat or any of the other motorsailors out there? Some people have
enough character that a small fridge wouldn't keep them from a
sailboat, Doug.

Keep dreaming, Doug. But it does sound like even you have given up on
what you truly want.
