Having a lot of trouble with latching and releasing the trailer hitch.
I'll throw a little grease (it's been a year) on the ball and see if that
changes anything, but I think the real source is the V shape the hitch
and tongue make when I park my boat on my slanted driveway with my truck
in the opposite slanting street.

I was having trouble with my brand new trailer coupler.
Turns out there is a little plate up under the tightening screw that
should have its widest part facing port & starboard...with the narrower
part facing fore & aft.
Sometimes you do have to jiggle it a bit to get it to release.

Will think about your description when I look at the coupling latch
tomorrow. So far the coupling latch is visually intact and correctly
oriented, but will double check. I'm afraid the pitch of the hitch may
force me to back into position, stop, place an 8 foot 2x8 behind my truck
wheels, then back up a few more inches before trying to disconnect.

As far as jiggling, I'm jumping on my bumper to get the ball to come out of
the coupler.
