I took it in the shorts from my State today....
Well, y'all boys need to come on down to LA, Lower Alabama that is. The
offshore fishing off Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is just too good. The
inshore fishing in Mobile Bay and the delta is also yummy. Good ole boys
can get all the bass they can handle in the upper delta and the rivers. We
fish and boat year round BTW. Property taxes are not too bad either.
Tax on trailers is zip, nada, zero. Boats are $16 per year.
OTOH, we do get a little storm every now and again, don'tcha know.
Y'all come!

We also have, in the county (Fairfax County, VA) , a personal property
tax
on boats. That's another reason my boat is home ported in Maryland.
If your county finds out about that "arrangement", and they have their
ways, they will be barking up your back side for a lot of back taxes,
penalties, interest, etc.
Be careful.
No, it's not illegal. For the county tax to be required, the vehicle,
boat,
etc. must be kept in the county. The boat is registered and kept in
Maryland, so I'm in good shape.
If I moved it's home port to the county, then I'd have to pay any sales
tax
differential (if any), register it in Virginia, and pay the county
property
tax.
