I work for free slip, storage, all work on my boat, most of what I need
for free or at cost and I also get 1/3 of everything I sell in gear
from the yard, stuff for myself (such as a new CQR I just put aboard).

I was trained by the yards resident sailboat repair-person and surveyor
for 5 years. I attended enough surveys to even consider going into the
biz for a while, until Thomas was born-delayed the idea for a bit. I've
helped install everything from heads to gimballed radars in the last
three years.

Do you have any FCC licenses to install or repair boat radios or radars?

This spring I raised 4 masts on boats from 35 to 48 feet.
Am I the end-all sailboat expert? Hell no, but we do a pretty small
amount of sailing related brokerage and I know more than enough to
handle what comes in.
I know this all ****es you off, Doug. But the truth is that few people
sailing for so short a time can match what I know about boats.

What is your knowledge in? In certainly isn't technical. Is it memorization
of sales brochures?

Write a book on engineering or physics. Be a man!

But don't you think you'd be better off trying to refloat your own
dreams of sailing again, rather than bemoan my good fortune? Seriously,
Doug.

Doug has won regional and national sailing championships. Those are skill
