Before you pull it out, haul a tape measure up the jib halyard and
measure the rake exactly from say the stem.
Make the new stays just a freckle shorter than the old ones so when
they settle in, they come up the same length.
That way, you get to set the rake the same without too much fiddling
about.
Check it with the tape and adjust from there.
