Default Joe Screws the Pooch

Here are the facts, right from Joe's own feedbag!

"Your local
weather says winds 21knots with gust to 31, shucks bubbles that prime 9

knot sailing wind on redcloud, no reefs, 100% jib."

Now in those conditions we held just over 10 knots steady, faster than
Red Cloud. The funny thing is that we had Thomas on board and we sure
weren't pushing things. My friend's 1979 J30 was a bit slower, but
still faster than Joe's steel snail. Back at the club a J29 racer said
he hit 14 knots!
Now...let's put this in perspective. ALL of these boats, including ours
have much less WL than Red Cloud and we're all STILL faster! When you
stop to think how slow Joe's boat truly is, it's mind boggling. Now,
imagine light air! Yikes! Maybe Joe should get an 90 foot motorsailor.
That should be faster than a 35s5, right?
Joe has now also admitted that he sails a tiny fast boat to get his
true sailing fix. Too bad he couldn't afford one boat to fit his needs
as we did.
Now, am I saying Dead Cloud is a bad boat? Not at all. Poor Joe has a
fat, ungainly boat, but she was BUILT THAT WAY...not for speed...of
which she has very little compared to most boats close to her size.

Good luck, Slow Joe of the SV Dead Cloud!
