That is a good looking Skiff Doug. Little far to drive and get for me.
I was thinking you could sail RED CLOUD up there and get it,
hang it from davits
I need something else, yester evening I fought all the way up wind on
the lake (est 25ktswind), started to turn downwind for a haul ass ride
home and did an gybe that was to much for the rudder on the labrisa.
The rudder snapped off, the aluminum casting that held the rudder split
in half with a loud boom and the rudder blade hit the deep six, did the
fastest spiral ever :0(
Cast aluminum is not very strong. I've seen a lot of
production boats with these, seems like a bad idea. You can
get two sheets of aluminum plate and bolt them with some PVC
spacers to make a strong & seamanlike rudder head. Or you
can fit a non-kick-up rudder, lighter and stronger yet.
