Default cummins/mercruiser diesel sterndrive

The other option I am looking at is a Konrad outdrive

, marine transmission and either a 210 or 315 cummins. I don't know very
much about diesels, how do these 2 engines compare to the Q series?

Mark,

I don't know anything about the outdrive, but the engine is basically
the same 5.9 diesel you find in Dodge pickup trucks. They now have this
engine rated as high as in the neighborhood of 400 hp (which is really
pushing it) for marine use, so at 230 hp it should last forever.
Experiance with these engines in this hp range has been very good. The
Q series engines are, I beleave, all common rail engines so they should
start very well (no smoke), burn very little fuel and be very quiet as
their is no injection pump. I would say that, for the right price, this
is probably a good set up for a boat in the area of 25 feet or so, give
or take a few feet.
