Default 3hp Minn Kota trolling motor

I have to agree with the other reply. There is a _reason_ they are
called trolling motors.

A friend has the same boat and first tried using it with his electric
trolling motor. While it will certainly move the boat, it is slow and
unresponsive. He kept that electric for its' designed purpose, but
purchased a 3.3 HP gas outboard for the Porta. It is very effective at
motivating around.

Go look at what they say is the max HP for those boats. Then ask
yourself if the little electrics are going to be useful for anything
other than the local farm pond.

Cheers, Ed

Can anyone tell me the thrust rating of the 1991 3hp Minn Kota trolling
motor? I bought the motor used, planning on using this motor as primary
power on my 10' Porta-Bote. Unfortunatly, there was no paperwork with
the motor.
