You're going to have to explain that. The USA certainly appears quite
successful in the wine business of late. I haven't seen figures, but I'm
guessing we are among the top five wine producers in the world. And some
of
it is very damn good.

Is Zinfandel (shudder) still the biggest seller ?


I don't track such numbers, but I'm guessing that cabernet and chardonnay
are still the top sellers. Personally I prefer drier wines, such as
sauvignon blancs and pinot grigio. As for being average, I doubt if
California cabs are any more "average" than the same wines from Oz. I've
had superb cabs from both Oz and CA, and I've had some real **** from both
as well. That's hardly a scientific study, but your hyperbole is probably
quite inaccurate as well.
