30th Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival Exhibitor Applications &
Festival Tickets available!
Ahoy boaters, builders, exhibitors and friends... Applications for the
30th Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend are now available online or
by email.
Tickets for this year's Wooden Boat Festival Symposium (September 7,
from 9-4 in Port Townsend) are now available online at
http://www.woodenboat.org. The Symposium will feature 4 major yacht
restorations with presentations by the shipwrights and owners. The
specific boats will be announced on our website in May.
Festival General Admission tickets are also available. Matt Murphy and
Tom Jackson from WoodenBoat Magazine will talk about their latest books
during the Festival. Sponsors Edensaw Woods, Festool and System Three
will each expand their demonstrations and talks in the Woodworking,
Boatbuilding and Tool Demonstration areas. Local and regional experts
Carol Hasse, Sam Devlin, Brion Toss and nearly 70 exhibitors and
educational organizations will present talks and demonstrations
throughout the weekend.
"Big" boats: Virginia V, Adventuress, Lynx, Lady Washington and Sea
Wolf, a restored Mine Sweeper that now offers advance seamanship
courses in partnership with the Wooden Boat Foundation & Northwest
Maritime Center. A range of smaller boats, including Pygmy Kayaks,
Bartender Boats, Vietnamese reed boats, models and entries
pariticipating in the 2nd Annual Shipyard Raid - an international
rowing and sailing race for small craft, will fill the harbor.
This year's festival theme is "Pulling Together - The Spirit of the
Crew". Gae Pilon, Port Townsend artist know for her art-inlaid
spinnakers as well as her illustrations in the Chapman Book of Knots
(written by Brion Toss) created this year's Festival Art. Posters will
be available in late May.
