Apple has released a software update for the newer iPODS that let you go
into "settings" and establish a maximum volume setting. There appear to be
several other refinements in the update.

Available on the Apple site.

I read about that. It is apparently due to some lawsuits from folks
claiming that they are losing their hearing because they were able to
listen to their Ipods at what would be considered excessive noise volumes on
a TWA according to OSHA standards......85 dba TWA/8 hours

Duh............whatever happened to personal responsibility? There *is* a
volume control on the units.

I would not download the software unless you like to hear your music at low
volumes. The release of the software is nothing more than a CYA move on
Apple......and a very smart move at that. ;-)

There's more in there than a volume limiter.

Harry, today the news was saying the Ipod volume went up to 115 decibels.
Having ears that have been almost destroyed by loud noises, I'd be looking
to reduce the volume also. The kids think their ears can't be damaged!
