Default motor ran for 1/2 second out of water

I had a brain fart and started the motor and it ran for literally less
than one second while the motor was tilted up. I immediately realized
my mistake and cut motor off. Motor is brand new, E-tec 90.

Is there likely to be any impeller issues?

Contrary to the opinions you are getting here, your new E-tec 90 is now
toast.
Running it without water, even for a couple of nano-seconds overheats the
flabble regulator and causes the eprom in the main stem to loose all bubble
memory. This is explicitly spelled out in the fine print of your manual and
any claims for warranty repair will be rejected. Just ask Karen.

Thanks for that kind introduction Richard & welcome to a boating thread
how's it feel?? Do you need to post an OT movie??? how about a "how do I
work a power point" thread???

Charlie the impeller is probably fine but you do have an issue with the
impact, bent prop & definitely don't just drain & replace the gearcase
oil yourself!!! Seriously these E-Tec dealer grubs are out to blame you
for any & everything, so much so that the gearcase has a "special"
dealer only oil in it. "They say" it will last 3 yrs (warranty??) but
they also accept some water will get in there because they spruik the
oil can still lubricate even when there's water in the gearcase!! Has
this claim been consumer tested over time???, like all their other
latest ficht upgrade claims???

I hate myself (plenty of company around the NG:-)) for even suggesting
this, but you need to take it to an E-Tec dealer; book it in & tell them
in an email would be good (they're liars), that you've have had an
impact & can they check it "all" out. That way your warranty will be
documented & at least as safe as any of the E-Tec warranties:-) You are
at risk having bought this engine, power boat couldn't even nurse one to
the end of a test!!! So protect your warranty at all times & remember
Bomb have OMC warranty priors.

These E-Tec people really are loons!!! All the gearcases survive some
water getting in (they're just a poor design only one OB I know of has
pressure lube to the lower g/case but that's another story:-)) The
problem is not while they're being used it's when they're left for the
winter the water settles then rusts the bearings, next season the shaft
bounces around a little more so more water etc etc

The E-Tec claim of no "dealer" service for 3 yrs is a real worry in my
view & seems almost deliberately set up to give them an out.

Again for clarity (little water in the gearcase joke?) if "you" change
the gearcase oil you "must" use their dealer only gearcase oil or your
warranty on the gearcase will be toast. Why don't they just change the
oil annually like everyone else?? because it's dealer only oil & in the
US they'd have to give it away & believe me considering the engine
pricing the dealers are cleaning up on every little E-Tec dollar they can.

Let us know how it goes?? I'm betting they'll rip you off big time.

Good luck.

I had just been idling away from a fishing spot and my fishfinder
shallow warning went off. No sooner did it beep and I could feel the
prop hitting something. I had tilted motor up to inspect and forgot
to put it back down. Bent up my prop pretty good, must have been a
rock or a stump. Only the 3rd time out with new motor. Bummer. I
took the prop off and straigtened it as best I could, guess I should
go buy a new one and keep this one as a spare for an emergency.

Good idea. It's going to cause vibration. Seems like we all get "spare"
props this way at one time or another. And obviously, just kidding about
your flabble regulator. Actually, they will survive several nano-seconds
without water without permanent damage.
