Boat Transport?
Probably the same woman who took my boat from the Florida Keys to their depot
in central Florida. It was either her or the second driver who delivered it to
Wisconsin who must have hit the brakes real hard on the trip up. The mast was
securely tied across the deck of the boat at three points, but it had shifted
about a
foot back when it arrived. That, plus the interior items were scattered all
about should have tipped me off to inspect further. My outboard engine bracket
made of
a two inch thick hardwood had cracked badly, so I was lucky I didn't lose my
engine off the boat.

Just be sure not to pay them the full amount until you throughly inspect
your
boat on
arrival. I missed some damage which American Boat Transport refused to
pay for.
Thanks for reminding me of the name of that transport company - "American
Boat Transport".
During one of my many trips to and from Florida I, was cruising along, doing
about 70 on RT 95 when I saw a semi pulling onto the highway from an
entrance ramp. The flat bed was loading with a big - probably 35-40 foot
sailboat. I remember it had a blue hull. The boat looked huge on the truck
which had wide load signs on it but no escort.
About 2 miles further on down the road this rig blew by me doing close to
90. A couple of cars were ahead of it and the rig's driver started pulling
on the air horn to get them to move out of the way.
One didn't and the driver had to lock up all the trailer brakes, vaporized
rubber smoke bellowing everywhere, horn blasting and trailer with the boat
swaying all over the road. Quite a sight with this big, heavy sailboat
strapped high on the trailer because of the boat's keel. By this time I had
caught up to it again in the granny lane and headed for the breakdown lane,
fully expecting a major wreck in the making. The offending car quickly got
out of the way and the truck continued on, accelerating back to a crazy
speed and weaving back and forth around traffic until it was out of sight
again. It was such a demonstration of reckless driving that I took note of
the name of the company - American Boat Transport - intending to give them a
call. But then, I forgot the name. I would not use that company to ship a
rowboat.
BTW, the driver was a woman.
