Default Boat Transport?

I need to ship a 23 foot powerboat across the country, from New

Oregon. The boat is on a trailer, but I would prefer to have it
trucked or
rail shipped. Anyone with any recommendations, hints, or places to avoid?
Any ball park of what this might cost? If it's much over $2000 I will
probably just bag the idea. I have googled "boat transport", but I'm more
interested in "real world" experiences.

thanks in advance,

If that was up here, I'd try to find out what companies have 18 wheelers
heading back west empty after delivering goods.
I'm sure at least one trucker would welcome the opportunity to make
$500.00 or so on that long boring trip.

(1) No commercial truck drives that far in ANY direction empty.
(2) Flat beds are harder to find than dry vans and are at a premium ($$).
(3) A flat bed would have to be able to haul the boat and trailer. If
the boat isn't too tall it may be too wide. If the whole thing does fit
on a flatbed trailer, the logistics of loading and unloading would be a
huge concern ($$).

If you have time, you might be able to find someone driving a large
pickup to that area but you would still have to expect to shell out at
least a grand to cover the hassle and additional fuel expense.

Selling it and buying new later might be worth it.
