A terrible accident I call "Ship To Tall Or Bridge To Low" ( Video-Clip )

Good point. If you are only watching the ship you could miss that.
It would be interesting to see more of the details because the ship's
"airdraft" was nowhere near being close to correct if that bridge was not
lowering.
Assuming the ship had a pilot, there's more than one person in deep dodo and
as someone else said
I am still trying to figure that out. If there was audio or anything
else that could have provided details then I might have a different
impression. But it certainly appeared that the drawbridge was in
motion, coming DOWN when the ship hit it. That leads me to believe
that the bridge was UP. Since it also appears that the ship's bridge
was the point of impact, you can be that the pilot and other
crewmembers got an up close, front row seat - I'll bet there was a lot
of yelling on the radio.
I would be quite easily pursuaded that this was the bridge operator's
fault - If not entirely, then a majority of the blame is probably
his/hers. How could you blame a pilot? The bridge was open... it
started closing. Around here bridges open for ships that size when
they are nearly two miles away - the ship can't stop if the bridge
starts coming down when it's a boatlength away.
, considering the ensuing fire, let's hope no one was
hurt or killed.

There isn't any detail about what led to the mishap... But I was
thinking there is a bridge tender opening. Why was the bridge coming
down when a ship was passing?
