Default Honda Vs Kipor, revisited

Great input; thanks to all.

Meanwhile, SSCA, where I'm a member and posted about this issue, has a
respondent about his Kipor 1000, and he likes it just fine. About 300 bux,
2 year parts warranty. No problems to date.

If you read the ham thread, you see that fuel is a potential issue; I expect
that would be so with the Kipor, too, but if Honda won't resolve that sort
of problem, it makes me wonder about other issues that they may claim are
user error, rather than a warranty issue. Not encouraging.

So, I'm back in the air about my choice. If Honda won't step up to the
plate, there's no reason to trade up. Practically speaking, I expect this
unit would get very minimal use, as I intend it for emergency charging and
shoreside AC tools use only.

Our battery box is being built and I'll have my 4 L16HCs installed before
the end of the month, when I'll disconnect from the grid and get some real
world experience in how much power we'll use, as well as generate, from our
solar and wind. All the various new gear we've either already or will soon
install will be cycled and load our batteries so we can get a feel for it...

Skip, off to PT again, the better to resolve my shoulder and get aboard

So, it's a Honda for me, and now isn't too soon to figure out who's
going to sell it to me. Who's got the current best internet pricing?
Mayberry in NJ? Someone else? There's been some scuttlebutt to the
effect that they're hard to find these days due to hurricane
disruptions, but I'd think that would have settled down by now...

Smart choice but don't look on the internet for it. Honda America has
threatened them all about selling out of their protected territories with
loss of their dealerships if they sell the gensets and advertise discount
prices on the internet. Check Google's cache functions and the prices
are still there before the cutoff threats.

Call Hayes on the phone and ask 'em about a price on the phone.

They got everyone's gensets, including the Kipor!

I'm pondering buying their WIRELESS remote start kit for my EU3000i.
Totally cool idea. I could leave the heater or A/C online and ready to
start, press the button when I get up and the truck's genset would power
up the heat or cooling in the shop while I'm getting ready. Not a bad
idea at all!...(c;

Thanks for any inputs...

Damned CDRs and DVD+Rs scattered all over my desk.....and it's all YOUR

Gotta go....swap disks again.....
