Wha, they don't ever take papers home?
Never have after school conferences?
Plan lessons at home?
SBV
They do, sometimes take papers home, but they also get one
Monday/month off as student free days.
After school meetings are rare unless you are one of the senior
teachers in which case you are paid substantially more.
Plan lessons at home?
Why? They only teach 4.5 to 5 hrs each day, plenty of time for lesson
planning during school hours, and after the first year, they just dish
up the same lessons as last year.

I welcome you to crackerbox palace,We've been expecting you.
Oz, you haven't got a clue....better climb back into the crackerbox
house...
Sorry, Katy, Oz is broadly correct in his observations. My sister is a
high school teacher.

Thanks Peter,
I have a dozen friends who are teachers of one type or another and
indeed have taught myself.
A couple are senior head teachers and put in an extra hour or so a day
averaged out.
The others....well, you don't want to be standing in front of the
carpark gates 10 minutes after the bell rings!

Oh, I didn't mention that I will be teaching part time next year.
Why?
Because I actually enjoy emparting the wisdom I've learned in my 55
years....and $55/hr base rate (I will be doing some evening classes at
a far higher rate) + super and allowances and a guaranteed 20 hrs of
which about 15 will be face to face.
IOW, I'll be pocketing over $1000/ week in time that I'd be relaxing
with a book or in front of the TV......or worse still chatting here!

Only tecahers here who would make 1K/week would be those with 20
years into the system, working full-time, with advanced degres.
