Before you step too far into this... realize that there are good
christian fundamentalists that are ready to take over the state of SC
and secede from the USA to force their will on all of the citizens of
SC.... see: http://christianexodus.org

I don't see that these catholic zealots in FL are any different.

I do. The group you talk about is trying to assimilate a bunch of
people
who are already living there. Ave Maria is yet to be built. Anybody
who
lives there or works there knows the rules going in.

That is a terribly weak and specious argument.

This is merely an effort by well heeled religious zealots to try to
restrict the constitutional rights of the citizens of Naples and
Collier County. Those citizens, already property owners, do NOT as you
assert ".....know the rules going in." They will likely pay a large
price, in terms of taxation, to defend themselves against these
newcomers in order to protect their constitutional rights.

After having breakfast with some Catholic friends, to my surprise, I
find that there are a LOT of Catholics that don't see it your way.

I ate diner with some Catholics last night, slept with one of them, my
wife,
and had breakfast with some Catholics this morning. They disagree with
your
view of this issue.

Gene, please tell us what is really bothering you about Ave Maria and
other
similar communities?

Caveat emptor.

Simply? Separation of church and state.

There is no "seperation of church and state." There is the establishment
clause, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". Do you understand that
establishment and seperation are two different words.

I know separation of church and state is in the constitution and is
*supposed to be a law, but gosh, man, there is always "a choice by the
people," right?

Sorry, there is no seperation of church and state in the US Constitution.

Caveat Emptor? For a Catholic, your Latin sucks. I'm neither buying
your line of argument nor do I think those people that have drunk the
good Mr. Monaghan's kool-aid are particularly careful of their
merchants.

In this country you have the freedom to live their or not to live there. Why
do you want to deny others of their freedom to make that choice?

Your position is now clear. Roger and out.

I support individual freedom, which this country was founded upon. But, you
don't want other to exercise their God given rights under the constitution.
If they weren't God given then who or what gave them their inalienable
rights? The State didn't exist prior to it's constitution so the state
couldn't have given you those rights.
