True.
I think the 10-Sq-M canoe class use a styled "IC" sail
insignia also.
What features distinguish this class of racing keelboat?
That their long overhangs, comparatively slim bodies, and large-ish
sail plans make them beautiful to look at? That they were designed
primarily by Corneilius Shields in the mid-1930s and that there are
still comparatively large and active fleets?
That their tiny little cute attached rudders make them
handle like much bigger & more cumbersome boat? That being
sailed with no engine makes their skippers a cut above
average in docking skills?
That their tiny little cute spinnakers will nonetheless
death-roll them in a good breeze, if sailed hell-for-leather?
IIRC the IOD class had it's origin as an interclub racer for
winter time, intended to be a small less-expensive version
of the older Universal Rule and Meter boats.
I also agree that they're beautiful. Right up there with the
Dragon and the Atlantic for grace & eye appeal.
