Me too. Curt Gowdy WAS the Red Sox -- in bed at night with the radio low,
covers pulled up over everything so my mom wouldn't hear and make me shut it
off - listening, listening.... names you never forget, Williams, Jensen,
Piersall; and that distinctive, baseball background hum of the stands when
the announcers weren't speaking (something today's announcers don't seem to
get), and Gowdy's unmistakable voice, doing a quick promo during a slow
time in the game -- "Hi, neighbor -- have a 'Gansett.........
