I thought it was teak to, but it's fiberglass.

I always assumed the nickname "leaky-teaky" referred to the deck, ports, &
hatches, which are often very fancy wood & often put together with quite
excellent craftmanship, but with nails and/or bathtub caulk etc etc. I
feel that I can use the term "leaky-teaky" without fear of being accused
of prejudice because we own one... I am in the finishing stages of taking
off a beautiful but very impractical teak deck... caught it just in the
nick of time since there were only a few small bad spots in the cored
fiberglass deck structure.

Another issue with those series is that the Taiwanese were notorious for
stealing designs. William Garden & Robert Perry have both complained that
their designs were used but never paid for.

No, it isn't prejucicial. My friend John sailed a brand new Hylas 49 and it
leaked. Early boats had an issue with the sealant quality, can't figure out
what the excuse would be for newer boats. Ditto for the splashing business.
BTW, you've been offshore, you know that while teak decks are very hot in
the tropics and rather a pita re/maintenance, they are extremely practical.
Best non-skid you could ever ask for.
