As a tired old criminal investigator (only 28 years) who has dealt with
many of these issues, I would ask why delay the announcement of the
event? Two likely reasons:
1. Maybe they can control the access to the information, making it a
non-event. No one will find out.
2. (And most likely, in my estimation) What could transpire over time
that would make the whole event look better in the eyes of the public and
law enforcement? Answer: the perpertrator's blood alcohol level could
drop to a legal level.
What a slimeball we have for a VP.

Yes, well, of course.
I see a major reason, since it was printed FIRST in a paper that takes FACTS
and does not distort them, the national press has a more difficult time
slanting the facts as they are already in print. Witness the published
reports in the national news that the "victim" was shot in the face with 250
pellets. When the first reports were that he was peppered pretty good and
shot in the chest with shot reaching as far as his cheek and right arm.
Also the national press is saying that shot penetrated his heart when the
truth is that shot traveled to his heart from the chest wound.
The police report says that the shot was from 90 feet but the pattern he
shows I would think was from about 20 feet. Can any of you hunters reply to
that, a 28 gauge shotgun with bird shot making a pattern of about 15 inches
at 90 feet. ????
