I don't know if all water heaters are plumbed as mine is, but i have shut
off valves on the engines where the lines go to and from the water heater.
With your water heater up hill, this would be especially helpful.
Before you connect the coolant lines to the engine, hold them high and fill
one end with a funnel "til it comes out the other end.
This raised expansion tank is a neat idea, but I wonder if there is a limit
to how high it could be before it might affect the pressure in the cooling
system. Probably a lot higher than what you need.
