It might be illegal if there is more than 40 volts on any circuit behind the
panel. I think you need an "enclosure."

Ahoy, I have acquired an older boat with a plywood dc panel. I assume.
this is completely illegal in usa and would like to conform within
reason. I have ok electrical skills and experience. Some of the old
wiring shows wicked voltage drops so I will have to sort that as well.
